Community Reports

Since 2009 the Community Foundation has embarked on researching and publishing data-driven community reports to help identify local issues and mobilize action.  The reports are used to inform our granting and serve as a resource to the community.

Our community reports draw on Statistics Canada data, supplemented by additionally available local data.  Publication of these reports are made possible thanks to countless hours from skilled Foundation volunteers and local subject matter experts who serve in an advisory capacity.

From 2009 – 2018 we published full Vital Signs® reports, designed to report on data and trends in a variety of sectors to identify areas where we as a community are doing well and areas where perhaps we would like to see improvement.

After ten years of publishing a full annual Vital Signs, in 2019 we took a new approach and launched a new publication: Community Insights. This new occasional publication will take a more in-depth look at single issues of importance to our community.

Our plan is to produce these smaller, issue specific reports for a few years until sufficient time has passed to identify trends in the data, at which point we will look at resuming the publication of a full Vital Signs report.
