Frequently Asked Questions about the CFKA Grant Programs

1. What is the schedule of grant rounds, when will the grants be announced?

Generally, but subject to change, Community Grants letters of intent are due early February and end of August, while the Stark Family Fund of Prince Edward County letters of intent will be due early January. Community grants are then announced at the end of April and at the end of October, and Stark Family Fund grants at the end of March. Please contact the grants coordinator (grants@cfka.org) for the exact dates of the current grant round.

Stark Family Fund: 2012 Call for Proposals

In

The Community Foundation for Kingston & Area is now accepting Letters of Intent for the 2012 Stark Family Fund grant round for projects in Prince Edward County with an emphasis on organizations in Bloomfield and Hallowell, in the areas of: Animal Welfare, Arts & Culture, Education, Health & Social Services.

To be considered, please submit six copies of a Letter of Intent Form by

4:30 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2012.

Spring 2011 Grant Ceremony

The 26 recipients of Spring 2011 Community Grants will receive their grants totaling $52,654 at a ceremony on May 19, 10-11am, at the Kingston Yacht Club at 1 Maitland St. The public is cordially invited to join the celebration and to hear short project descriptions from the grant recipients.

The Community Foundation for Kingston & Area's Grants Review Committee is thrilled to announce the recipients of the Fall Grants Session which was held jointly with the Sunnyside Children’s Foundation and Assante Financial Management - Fenlon Division. 25 grants for a total of $88,422 will be awarded to the successful grantees at a reception on Thursday November 18, 2010 at 10 a.m. the Kingston Yacht Club (1 Maitland St.). Please join us as the grant recipients give a brief explanation of their projects.

The Stark Family Fund

In

Established in 2003 by a $1.3 million bequest entrusted to the Foundation by Ruth Stark of the Stark Family of Bloomfield, Ontario, this fund supports projects in Prince Edward County with an emphasis on organizations in Bloomfield and Hallowell. Grant applications from this Fund are reviewed by an anonymous Grant Selection Team from Prince Edward County.

Community Grants

Nan Yeoman's Grant for Artistic Development

In

The Nan Yeomans Grant for Artistic Development aims to help promising young artists and/or artisans in furthering their education and professional artistic growth. This grant, totaling $2,500 in value will be awarded to one successful applicant by a peer jury based on the artistic merit of their work and previous accomplishments, and the eligibility of their proposal. Grant monies are intended to be put towards focused training or guided creation.

Youth in the Arts Fund

In

Founded in 1998 through a gift from two local radio stations, the YAC Corus Entertainment Youth in the Arts Fund is awarded by the Foundation's Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). YAC is a group of young people aged 14 to 22 from the Greater Kingston area. This Fund supports projects that are youth-driven and immerse and involve children and youth in the arts.
