Donate Online
CanadaHelps.org is an unique web-venture charitable organization allowing people from all over the world make donations to Canadian charities registered with the federal government using a credit card. You may donate online to the Community Foundation for Kingston & Area by clicking onto the link at the bottom of this page.
How do I make a donation? Click on the link at the bottom of this page to be transferred to the Community Foundation's profile on CanadaHelps.org. Enter in your donation amount, and click 'Donate Now'. On the next page, you may select the fund you wish to direct your donation to. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete.
Will I be issued a tax receipt? Certainly! Because CanadaHelps.org is a registered charity, they will issue you a tax receipt in the amount of your donation for income tax purposes. You will also receive an 'e-receipt', which clearly indicates that you donated to The Community Foundation for Kingston & Area.
Does the entire amount go to the Community Foundation? Almost. There is a 3% fee that is charged to the Foundation. This is the lowest rate currently available.
What donor information does CanadaHelps.org collect and how is it used? The CanadaHelps.org donation system collects your name, e-mail address, mailing address, and credit card information. Once a donation is made, your information (less credit card information) is available only to the foundation, unless anonymity is requested on the donation form. We keep this same donor information on file only to satisfy our own auditing requirements. CanadaHelps.org does not sell or trade donor information.
How long does a donation take to process? All donations are processed electronically by CanadaHelps.org and are received in the Foundation's accounts within three business days.
Is the site secure? Yes. All information, including financials, personal identification and any other records, are securely protected behind multiple security measures. CanadaHelps.org has worked extensively with a number of major technology companies and online security experts to ensure that the site not only meets security requirements, but far exceeds them. Secure Socket Layers (SSL) are used to encrypt all information before sending it to their servers. Your information remains encrypted until it reaches their servers and, once there, it is protected by firewalls and the most effective security measures available. In the unlikely event of any credit card fraud, the standard credit card policy still applies - you will never be responsible for more than $50 of fraud on your credit card.
How will my donation show up on my credit card statement? Your statement will read a payment made to CanadaHelps.org. However, your 'e-receipt' will indicate your donation was made to the Foundation.
May I donate anonymously? Yes. The Community Foundation respects donor's rights to remain anonymous if they so desire. When entering in your information on the Donate page, just make sure you select the anonymity requested box.
