Funds

The Community Foundation works closely with individuals, their professional advisors and businesses to facilitate charitable giving. One of the many ways donors can support their community is by establishing a fund within the Foundation. Setting up a fund at the Community Foundation is actually very simple and straightforward. Establishing a fund at the Foundation is an excellent alternative to creating a private foundation, cutting down on expensive overhead costs and benefiting from the Foundation's qualified and trusted investment team.

About Nan

Nan Yeomans was raised by a maiden aunt on a farm near Harrowsmith. Moving to Kingston in her twenties, she became a bookkeeper and commenced a lifetime of study in art including inspiring courses at Queen's University summer school. After a hiatus from art while she was involved in many community organizations, Nan began printmaking at St. Lawrence College. Printmaking would eventually become her medium of choice.

Nan's Legacy

Kingston artist Nan Yeomans died in 2004, leaving almost all of her estate, and the art that she had produced over a period of 50 years to The Community Foundation of Greater Kingston. It was Nan's wish that the proceeds fund scholarships for promising young artists and artisans. This initiative is dedicated to Nan's legacy to her community.

Donor Information

The Environmental Legacy Fund was established in 2002 to support environmental projects. The professionally-managed endowment will be held in perpetuity, while the interest earned on it will be used year after year for granting. Our grant selection committees and professional grant administration ensure effective, accountable granting. This makes the fund an easy way for Kingston area residents to support the local environment now and forever.

Environmental Grants

Environmental groups can receive funding from several different funds at The Community Foundation of Greater Kingston:

Environmental Legacy Fund and
The Ruth and Stu Barton Environmental Fund

› Proceeds from these endowments are used to fund grants in support of environmental projects and initiatives that:

  • enhance the local environment
  • promote awareness and education of environmental issues
  • strengthen the capacity of environmental organizations
