Bequest Gift Supports Nature Conservation

“A lifelong lover of the outdoors, be it feeding the chickadees on a hike, golfing or cross-country skiing at the Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area”

Marion Atack passed away suddenly in November at age 90; but her love of the outdoors will be forever remembered through a legacy bequest she left to the Foundation.

Marion chose to leave a gift to establish the Marion and Dan Atack Fund at the Community Foundation for Kingston & Area. The Fund will be used for the purpose of conservation and education regarding the natural environment, for the benefit of the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA).

Along with her husband of 68 years, Dan Atack, Marion was a lifelong lover of the outdoors, be it feeding the chickadees on a hike, golfing or cross-country skiing at the Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area where she once competed in the Ontario Winter Games cross country skiing event and often times took her grandchildren to explore the sugar bush.

Dan served as a board member of the CRCA for several years, helping fundraise for the original construction of the Little Cataraqui Creek Outdoor Centre and has spent countless hours walking the Lemoine Point Conservation Area.

Marion and Dan’s hope is that this fund helps the CRCA in the very important work that they do in maintaining the environment for their grandchildren, great grandchildren, and generations to come.

The Community Foundation is honored to have been chosen to be the steward of of this generous legacy gift.
