Zal & Rose Breakfast 2016
“Zal & Rose Breakfast continues to help feed thousands of children”
Once again hundreds of people came out to enjoy a delicious breakfast in support of a great cause – helping to provide healthy meals and snacks to thousands of school children in our area through The Food Sharing Project.
The 13th annual Zal & Rose Breakfasts were held Dec 13 and 14 at Chez Piggy and Pan Chancho restaurants. Over $20,000 was raised for the Zal & Rose Yanovsky Breakfast Fund held at the Community Foundation.
Since the fund was established and the breakfast fundraisers held, over $121,000 has been donated to The Food Sharing Project, and the endowment fund has grown to over $235,000. The fund will continue to provide a source of income for The Food Sharing Project year after year; showing the power of endowments!
Food Sharing Project fed 14,564 children in the 2015-16 school year; helping them to concentrate and learn better. Over the past 13 years, the Food Sharing Project has provided almost a million (964,058) healthy and nutritious snacks and meals to school children in Kingston & Area. This shows that the need is great, but thanks to the Zal & Rose Breakfast Fund and its hundreds of supporters, they can rely on a steady source of income each year.
Zoe Yanofsky presented a cheque to The Food Sharing Project showing the total gifts from the Fund in 2016.
Our thanks to Zoe and her team for all their hard work in organizing the breakfasts, and to everyone who came out to support the breakfasts or make a donation.
